Health A-Z: Tinnitis

a person's ear

Tinnitus refers to hearing sounds that are not in the external environment, i.e. ringing

Causes for tinnitus include:

  • Damage to the ear
  • Ear infections
  • Vascular/blood vessel disease
  • Noise-induced hearing loss
  • Emotional stress
  • Excessive ear wax
  • Meniere’s disease

A very common protocol that can resolve several issues is putting a magnesium spray or cream on the outer ear lobe.

Another is red ginseng. It is believed to be helpful with tinnitus, and noise induced hearing loss and cochlear damage.

Then there is ginkgo. It is a vasodilator and is well known for neural cognitive issues. Although it should not be used when taking anticoagulation prescriptions, it is widely used for tinnitus.

If these simple remedies do not work, you may want to see a health practitioner.
